Strategic entrepreneurial choice between competing crowdfunding platforms

Abstract This paper investigates strategic entrepreneurial choice between the UK Big 3 platforms–Crowdcube, Seedrs and SyndicateRoom–that exemplify three main equity crowdfunding (ECF) shareholder structures identified in literature. ECF has become a for both entrepreneurs angel venture capital funds as it offers mutually beneficial advantages to both, especially under co-investment model where these co-invest alongside crowd. The multinomial probit results show that large founder teams are more likely choose (SyndicateRoom) but less opt nominee ownership structure (Seedrs). Although heterogeneous Crowdcube structures, our suggest probability of choosing monotonically increases heterogeneous. conclusion is larger raise from campaigns explicitly involving professional investors.
